Hi Chris. Thanks for your comments. That’s a great verse isn’t it? Sadly though, I don’t think many people really take it to heart. We all really need to understand that if we don’t do what Jesus has said to do, then it’s a sign that we really DON’T love Him. And your not alone, we ALL have these hindering forces trying to get us to NOT obey God. That’s the spirit of satan that’s in this world, and it’s in opposition to God. But the most important thing that we have to do, is believe that Jesus is the Christ, and then obey what He says to do, to BECOME a Christian, and have our past sins forgiven. Namely, we must believe in Jesus, repent of our sins, be willing to openly confess our faith, and then be baptized for the actual “washing away” of our sins. Then we’re added to God’s family. Then we’re a Christian. Then, at least after we have become a Christian, we can have the confidence that when we realize that we’ve sinned again, we can determine to do better and turn from the particular sin we’ve been guilty of, and ask God for forgiveness. Only a Christian can have the confidence that God is “faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins”. 1 John 1:9.

None of us are “deserving” of the forgiveness of God through Jesus. That’s why we’re told in Ephesians 2:8, “By grace you have been saved, it is a gift of God..”
