Thanks for your comments. But my question for you is.. What do you mean by a "praying tongue"? The scriptures never use such a phrase. What do you think that is please? 1 Cor 13 tells us that the miraculous gift of tongues no longer exists. Are you referring to some kind of miraculous gift, and are you thinking that you receive this gift by being baptized "in the holy spirit? I don't find such a thought in the scriptures. Please show me where you are getting this idea from.

Dear Beloved in Christ,

Grace and peace to you in the precious name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

With a heart full of gratitude and faith, I write trusting that the Lord who faithfully guides His people will speak through this message, as He does with all His children.

My name is Bro. Victor Ojeamiren. By God’s grace, I serve in evangelism and Bible teaching among new believers and elderly members of our community.

Though we may not belong to the same local church, we are united as one body in Christ, sharing the same love for His kingdom and His Word. I serve as an evangelist not by my own strength, but by the grace of our Lord who has called me into this work. In our country, where hardship and suffering are common, we are not discouraged, for God’s love and His Word sustain us and give us strength in every situation.

Many of the believers we serve depend daily on Scripture for encouragement, guidance, and hope. As the Bible reminds us, “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Psalm 119:105, KJV).

Sadly, several of the Bibles available to them are very old, torn, or printed in very small text. For many of our elderly members, this makes reading the Scriptures extremely difficult.

Two of our dear brethren, Mr. Osagie Oboh and Mr. Ebube Uwasota, both over 75 years old, hunger daily for God’s Word but struggle to read their worn Bibles. Another family, the Ibeh family, currently share a single small-print KJV Bible among seven members, making it difficult for them to study together and grow in the faith. These challenges hinder our efforts to properly disciple new converts and strengthen believers.

A sister in Christ from our local community encouraged me to reach out prayerfully through the Internet. While searching for churches with a heart for missions and a strong commitment to Scripture, I came across your church. Your faithfulness to the Word of God stood out to me, and I sincerely believe this outreach may be the Lord’s leading.

With humility, I am writing to ask if your church might be able to assist us with 32 leather-bound, giant-print King James Version (KJV) Bibles, including two super giant-print editions specifically for Mr. Osagie Oboh and Mr. Ebube Uwasota. These Bibles would be a great blessing to both elderly believers and new converts, as the large print aids readability and the durable binding supports long term use.

If your church has a Bible ministry or feels led to support this need in any way, we would be sincerely grateful.

Thank you for taking the time to read this message and for your faithful labor in the work of the Lord.

I lift up your church in prayer. May the Lord strengthen your leadership, grant you wisdom and unity, and bless your ministry with lasting fruit for His glory.

With Christian love and prayers,
Bro. Victor Ojeamiren

There are clearly 2 types of tongues...
1- the gift of diverse tongues, languages of this world.
This is not seen much today, because so many people speak multiple languages with English.
2- The praying tongue, spoken to God, when baptized in the Holy Ghost (I Corinthians 14:2)
There is no relationship between either. Type 2 is a must.

In reply to <a href="https://cocbuffalowy.com/2024/07/jacobs-well/#comment-1896">Aimee Williams</a>.

Thanks for your comments and for the encouragement. As for the command to worship in spirit and in truth, it really has nothing to do with "bowing down", nor with worshipping without musical instruments. It's odd how certain connotations like that came to be. Of course to worship in truth, is to worship according to God's word which is "truth". And of course if we worship according to God's word, we will not be using musical instruments in our worship. But as far as any other connection, there simply isn't any. And as for "bowing", the original root meaning of the word translated as "worship" is "to prostrate oneself". However that can just as well mean to prostrate oneself in spirit, as well as physically. But once again, that's simply the root meaning, but it is not necessarily how the word is always used in the scriptures. Yes, sometimes it did refer to taking that position, but many other times, the exact position is not under consideration. But thanks again for your comments, I truly appreciate it. May God bless you and yours.

Thanks for your comments. I actually do agree with you. I am at a bit of a loss to understand why we all couldn't sit for an hour and worship God "in spirit" without being preoccupied with the flesh. It just seems to me that we could do our drinking before and after the worship service. Thanks again. God bless.

Hi Arlene, and thank you for your questions. However I think that perhaps you have misunderstood the lesson. I did not claim that Sunday was not "the Lord's day". On the contrary, I affirmed that indeed the scriptures give us sufficient information to conclude that indeed the first day of the week should be regarded as "the Lord's day". Also I quoted several early Christian writers, such as Ignatius, Justin, Eusebius, and others who confirm that they regarded the first day of the week as "the Lord's day". As for the "Lord's supper" we indeed come together to partake of that memorial feast, on the Lord's day, on the first day of the week. Maybe you could point out to me what made you think otherwise. But once again, thank you very much for your comments and for your interest in this topic. May God bless you.

Hello Brother Jim. I am a Bible class teacher and preach on a few occasions. I appreciate this excellent lesson from Romans. I agree with your points. Paul wanted to keep the old law when a Jew. He wanted to keep the law of Christ as a Christian. In both, he knew God's law was right, but in both, he fails to live perfectly. Only in Christ is mercy and grace found. Someone with improper motives will try to find a way to live ungodly and receive forgiveness. They are fooling themselves. God knows the heart. However, Christ was made our High Priest and was tempted in all points as we, yet without sin. He sympathizes with our weaknesses. In Christ as we strive to walk according to the Spirit, we receive grace when we fall short.

Heb 4:14-16
14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. 15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

God Bless,
